About the Organization:
Lagos Food Bank Initiative is a non-profit, private-driven initiative committed to fighting malnutrition and hunger, through targeted programs that seeks to improve the nutrition/food intake of pregnant women and their infants; students in public primary and secondary schools and the youths in the underserved communities. Our work also focuses on reducing food waste and organizing entrepreneurship training and job placement programs that help our beneficiaries become more self-reliant. Our food banking network across Lagos State caters for the immediate and long term needs of vulnerable communities.

Since 2015 we have served up to 160 rural and under-served communities in Lagos State and over 2,000,000 beneficiaries, especially, children between the ages of 0-16 years, the youths and vulnerable women in the rural communities have been impacted.

We currently, have over 24,000 registered volunteers on our database helping us with our works across Lagos and its environs.
We champion food banking system in a front-line model in the following ways:

·         School feeding

·         Community Nutrition based interventions

·         Urban farming

·         Job placement for beneficiary resilience and self-sustenance

·         Walk-in-beneficiaries

 

About the Role:
Due to the increased demand on the Food bank, and to support our corporate strategy, we are looking for an experienced individual who can work to streamline our practices and decision-making processes. The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations and improvement of the Foodbank systems that acquire and deliver food to those who are food insecure throughout the Foodbank’s service area. Responsibilities encompass oversight of key operations and facilities management and implementing the right processes and practices across the organization. The specific duties include formulating strategy, managing and improving performance, supervising and procuring material and resources and securing compliance. The role holder should be prepared to mentor team members, find ways to increase quality of donor and volunteer experience and implement best practices across all staff levels. Ultimately, we would expect the role holder to support the foodbank in remaining compliant, efficient and profitable during the course of business.

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCECOMPETENCIES
·         Hold and maintain a current driver’s license and be prepared to drive.

·         Professional development training undertaken.

 

·         Minimum of 7-10years post NYSC experience

·         Ability to lead, motivate, train and support team

·         Prior experience in the NGO sector is an added advantage

·         Having a professional certification is a plus

·         Previous supervisory/management experience

·         Must possess excellent public speaking skills and experience

·         Must be self-driven and able to work with zero supervision.

·         Flexible approach to working hours as some weekends and evening work will be required to fulfil role obligation.

·         Must be passionate about tackling hunger, deprivation and poverty.

·         Must be able to numerate and interpret statistical data.

·         Must have knowledge of poverty and hunger issues and be supportive of the organization’s mission.
