We are thrilled to announce that Lagos Food Bank Initiative has been honored with two prestigious awards presented by Acquisition International in the Non-Profit Organization Awards categories of Best Food Poverty Alleviation Initiative in Nigeria and the Excellence Award for Nutrition Intervention Programs in Nigeria 2024. These accolades recognize the organization’s unwavering commitment to combating food poverty and promoting nutrition in Nigeria.

In an era defined by unprecedented challenges and rapid transformations, the Global Excellence Awards serve as a beacon, spotlighting those who have not only weathered the storm but have emerged as trailblazers, setting new benchmarks for excellence. From finance to technology, healthcare to sustainability, and beyond, they celebrate the diverse spectrum of industries, recognizing outstanding accomplishments that have left a mark in today’s society.

With the rising number of households living below the poverty line, food insecurity has become a critical crisis, nationwide. Skyrocketing food prices and the diminished purchasing power of resilient families are driving this escalating emergency. The need for sustainable food practices and a more resilient food system has never been more paramount.

This is why Lagos Food Bank Initiative remains a nutrition-focused frontline agency, dedicated to combating hunger, malnutrition and poverty through strategic programs aimed at enhancing the nutritional and economic well-being of beneficiaries, focusing on pregnant women, lactating mothers and their infants, students in public primary and secondary schools, and seniors and youth in low-income communities, to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.

Since its inception eight years ago, the food bank has reached millions of less privileged families across 160 communities with a volunteer strength of over 24,000 individuals impacting society through community-driven initiatives.
