Saturday 29th of June 2024 was a day to remember for beneficiaries of the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) of the food bank as Cordros Capital Limited partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative for their annual CSR engagement where they provided food relief and personal care items to resilient households in Ogundimu Iwaya community, Lagos.

This initiative was geared towards ensuring equitable access to nutrition for households living below the poverty line in the wake of increasing costs of living, to enable them to channel their limited resources to other pressing household needs.

Addressing the attendees of the distribution program, Nkechi Nwakonobi, the Team Lead Corporate Communications of the partner organization, expressed her delight for the impactful partnership with the food bank, having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by residents of the community where the outreach took place. She appreciated the food bank team for a seamless distribution process and encouraged other corporate bodies to key into the vision of the food bank for a zero-hunger society, which can be achieved through collaborations such as this.

Also addressing those present, the Founder/Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, recognized the presence of the Managing Director of Cordros Registrars,  Bridget Bayo-Ajayi, and appreciated their organization for their kindness, and for their CSR partnership with the food bank. He highlighted the challenges faced by many households living below the poverty line amidst the rising costs of living. He also reaffirmed the food bank’s commitment and dedication to reducing food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty through impactful collaborations.

Also in attendance were the unwavering food bank volunteers who worked in togetherness with corporate volunteers from the partner organization to ensure the success of the outreach. Beneficiaries of the distribution immensely appreciated the food bank team and their partner for their love and support and expressed their heartfelt gratitude through prayers and dancing.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) remains an avenue for organizations to engage in impactful projects outside their daily operations to sustain and improve the communities within their scope of operations as a way of giving back to society.
