Bearing in mind the importance of preventing workplace injuries, illnesses, product wastage, and deaths; on Tuesday 7th of March 2023, Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) in partnership with Crown Flour Mills Limited recently concluded a training focused on Safety Management and Proper Storage Process for the Warehouse Management Team for further improvement and preparedness of Warehouse related operations, and to ensure safe and healthy food distribution to Beneficiaries.
The training took place at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse, having in attendance, the President of LFBI, Dr. Michael Sunbola; Trainers from Crown Flour Mills Limited; Adeniyi Emmanuel and Akinyemi Temiloluwa, and eight Trainees. The training started at 10:00 AM, with the first session centered on safe management of the Warehouse; use of first aid, danger response techniques, fire safety, pests control, prevention of common warehouse accidents, falls and appliance management. The second session focused on Product Storage Processes and critical issues faced by warehouse Managers, which included; how to optimize warehouse storage, proper record keeping, stock taking and physical verification of products, etc.
The President of LFBI, Dr. Michael Sunbola gave the closing remarks by, appreciating the presence of the Trainers and highlighted critical areas which were mentioned during the training.
One of the Trainers, Akinyemi Temiloluwa, carried the participants through a practical session on how to use a Fire Extinguisher for cases of emergencies. Participants then proceeded outside the warehouse for a group photograph before departure.
