On the 8th of July, 2022 as Nivea Nigeria partnered with Lagos food Bank for their corporate volunteering exercise which included a school feeding outreach in low cost schools and a food distribution outreach for vulnerable women in Agege/Dopemu community.
The Nivea team received a warm welcome and were ushered into the Food Bank warehouse when they arrived. The day started with a brief introduction of the activities lined up for the day, this was followed by a tour of our warehouse and office facilities. Afterwards volunteers and members of the Nivea team were split into different groups and assigned to various schools to implement the school feeding program.
Upon arrival at the schools, the children were expectant and eager to receive their lunches. The students were provided with their lunch and the smile on their faces was unmatched as they ate their meals. It was now time for the teams to move back to the food bank for the second phase of the outreach.
Packaging of food items into the boxes of hope happened upon returning to the Food Bank. Vulnerable women in Agege/Dopemu community trooped into the food bank anticipating the collection of their boxes of hope. The food distribution started at exactly 1.00pm and these women expressed their joy as they received their boxes.
My experience alongside my team has been fantastic and has taken this partnership to a whole new level and they are motivated to do more for the vulnerable in the community- said the Nivea Country Manager, Mr. Dele Adeyole.
As always, the beneficiaries showed their gratitude as they prayed for the initiative and had smiles on their faces as they danced home with their boxes on their heads. It was a double impact filled outreach.
