In its ongoing efforts to combat malnutrition, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative announce that Semilore, Mariam and Aliyah who were previously enrolled in the NUMEPLAN program as malnourished children have been successfully discharged from the program after showing significant improvement in their nutritional status.

Semilore, Mariam, and Aliyah who were identified as malnourished children and referred from our partner PHCs were enrolled in the NUMEPLAN program have made remarkable progress in improving their nutritional status. Within six months of their enrollment, their caregivers were given biweekly nutritional assessment, dietary support, educational interventions and counseling sessions.

Semilore showed physical changes in weight from 6kg to 8.5kg, length from 62cm to 69cm, and MUAC from 11.7cm to 13.2cm, Mariam showed physical changes in weight from 6.6kg to 8.2kg, length from 66cm to 73cm, and MUAC from 11.5cm to 13cm, and Aliyah showed physical changes in weight from 5.4kg to 7.5kg, length from 55cm to 61cm, and MUAC from 10.6cm to 13.2cm.

In light of their substantial improvement in nutritional status and overall well-being, Semilore, Mariam, and Aliyah have been successfully discharged from the NUMEPLAN program, they will also be coming back monthly for follow-up to keep track of their growth and ensure there is no relapse in their health status.
