The Lagos Food Bank Initiative is a non-profit organization that works to provide food and relief items to vulnerable families in low-income communities in Lagos. This time, the organization partnered with Leadway Assurance to distribute food and relief items to beneficiaries from Iyana-Ipaja community.

The outreach which was held on Saturday 6th of May, 2023 took place at the Lagos Food Bank Warehouse with a large number of beneficiaries in attendance. In preparation for the outreach, beneficiaries were reached out to and food vouchers were issued accordingly.

The program began with representatives of the Leadway Assurance and Lagos Food Bank volunteers who gathered together to ensure the boxes of hope were packaged for distribution.

The President of Lagos Food Bank Initiative, Dr Michael Sunbola, in his welcome speech highlighted the issue of food insecurity and the necessity of having access to nutritious food for all. He also discussed the difficulties faced by vulnerable individuals and the importance of providing relief items to those in need. Furthermore, he commended the Leadway Assurance team for their contributions towards SDG-2, Zero Hunger, and expressed hope that their support would continue to reach out to more vulnerable individuals.

The distribution of food and relief items was properly organized, with volunteers, Leadway Assurance team and Lagos Food Bank team coming together to make sure every beneficiary received their boxes of hope.

A representative of the leadway team applauded the efforts and dedication of the Lagos Food Bank in improving lives of vulnerable individuals and the effect their contributions have in the right against hunger and encouraged other corporate bodies to take part in giving back to their communities.

The outreach was a great success with beneficiaries expressing their delight at the distribution. Mrs Bala, one of the beneficiaries voiced her appreciation in her native language, thanking the Lagos Food Bank and its partners for their support.
