On Thursday, 2 nd of May 2024 Lagos Food Bank Initiative continued its mission in addressing food insecurity by collaborating with 22 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) under the Food Bank Network Nigeria to distribute essential food items to vulnerable households across Nigeria. This food distribution is in partnership with the Aliko Dangote Foundation through their National Food Distribution Program, with the aim of reducing the effect of the cost of living crisis in the beneficiaries’ households. The initiative reflects a joint effort in alleviating issues of food insecurity faced by many especially in this period of economic challenge.

This collaboration highlights the importance of collective action in combating hunger and supporting vulnerable households in need. By providing support, these organizations are able to reach a wider network of vulnerable households, ensuring that essential food items are distributed.

At the start of the program, a representative of each NGO introduced their programs and shared the stories of their impacts across low-income communities.
Mr Michael Sunbola, the Executive Director of Lagos Food Bank Initiative, in his remark applauded the work of the NGOs in their commitment towards the shared goal of eradicating hunger in Nigeria.
The program officer gave a brief insight on the importance of collaboration and networking, and encouraged NGOs present to get to know each other.
The distribution session commenced briefly and all the NGOs present were given bags of rice and other food and non-food items to be distributed to their beneficiaries.

To conclude the program, a representative for each organization present gave their testimonials and commented on how the support will be helpful to beneficiaries they are reaching out to.
