COMMUNITY INTERVENTION
On the 4th of December, a TEFAP outreach will be held at Topo community, Badagry to provide the most vulnerable in that community with food and other essential items that can sustain them for about 2-3 weeks. Topo is a community that lacks proper amenities like clean water and adequate infrastructure for its inhabitants as well as the necessary tools to foster a booming economic environment. The inhabitants’ major occupations are fishing and coconut farming, petty trading as well as surviving by means of tourist activities which are seasonal. For years, the residents of the community have lacked adequate electricity supply and incurred losses of food, business implementation and expansion. The recent closure of the border has also made business worse for some traders that were able to get by formerly due to the inflow of individuals to the area. The residents have long been in this cycle of stagnation and hardship and often feel neglected by the state government and its inability to keep promises and implement some projects.
