On the 23rd of September 2022, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative will be implementing our One Billion Meals campaign distribution in partnership with the Food Banking Regional Network and Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative within Dopemu community.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:

The outreach will be held in Adealu/Dopemu community. This community is a suburb area in the City of Lagos located in South west, Nigeria. Adealu/Dopemu is a peri-urban area densely populated with low cost schools that cater to needs of school age children from vulnerable households.

ABOUT OUR PARTNER:

The Food Banking Regional Network is a non-governmental organization that organizes charity work, unify efforts and encourages cooperation between different sectors for protecting the right of people to feed themselves in dignity. The FBRN is looking forward to changing the world to achieve food sufficiency, secure the environment, and develop the needy to attain independence and to attain nutritional security.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative was launched in 2015 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai for more than 20 years. One of the goals of MBRGI is to effectively address pressing humanitarian developmental and social challenges facing communities across the world and implement diverse sustainable projects especially in less fortunate countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

GOALS

The goal of this partnership is to reach vulnerable households with staple food items and their nutritional needs so they can focus their resources on other long term needs.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide vulnerable families with food and other relief items.
  • To provide beneficiaries with nutrition education and general healthy living.
  • To bring hope and a sense of belonging to residents of underserved communities.
