Monday 14th August, 2023 the Lagos Food Bank commenced a strategic partnership with Bella Disu Foundation (BDF) through its Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention for Vulnerable Mothers and Children (NUMEPLAN) program. The partnership addresses the critical issue of nutrition among vulnerable mothers and children living in vulnerable communities within Lagos State.
At the commencement of the partnership, The Founder of Bella Disu Foundation (BDF), Mrs Bella Disu in person, accompanied by her team, paid a courtesy visit to the food bank to kick start the partnership. During his welcome speech, the Founder of Lagos Food Bank; Dr Michael Sunbola expressed the timeliness of the partnership with the NUMEPLAN program as it signified an enhanced capacity to extend support to a larger number of vulnerable mothers and children which in turn will enhance the positive impact of the program.
During the program, Mrs Bella Disu commended the food bank on its impact and inspiring work across vulnerable communities and also alluded to the past partnership between the food bank and BDF to provide immediate relief to vulnerable families.
The partnership between BDF and the NUMEPLAN program is a collaborative effort to enhance the nutritional well being of mothers and children in marginalized communities. The initiative comes at a time when proper nutrition is of paramount importance, especially for those who are most vulnerable.
The Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention for Vulnerable Mothers and Children (NUMEPLAN) program is an initiative established by the Lagos Food Bank with the objective of improving the nutritional status of mothers and children residing in undeserved areas of Lagos State. The program recognizes the critical role that nutrition plays in the overall health and development of individuals, particularly among the most vulnerable segments of the population.
