We extended our unrelenting fight against hunger and malnutrition at our outreach which was held at Maryland Community on Saturday, 13th of May, 2023 in partnership with Archer DAniel Midland (ADM).

Maryland is located in the Kosofe Local Government Area and has Opebi, Mende, and Ikeja surrounding it. The Maryland metropolis was founded in 1950 when a group of missionary sisters known as “Our Lady of the Apostle” purchased the land with the intention of establishing a school in the area, now known as the Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School (MCSS). It is at the top of most people’s lists when it comes to purchasing or renting a property in Nigeria’s commercial hub.

The ADM team arrived at the food bank to participate in the warehouse volunteering activities which included box packaging, loading of the truck with the boxes of hope, personal care items, and clothes to be donated to the beneficiaries.

Before the commencement of the distribution. the Executive Director of Lagos Food Bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola in his welcome speech reiterated the crucial role being played by ADM in the nutrition industry, and appreciated their choice of partnering with LFBI as usual. Also, the Human Resource Officer of ADM, Oluwakemi stated the aim of their organization is to provide a healthy environment through food and drinks produced by their customers and affirmed their consistency in giving back to host communities through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Every registered beneficiary received boxes of hope which would sustain a family of 5 for 2-4 weeks. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to both ADM and LFBI for the relief items, and their kind gesture. Members of the community also received other items such as cloth, shoes and bags brought to the outreach venue through LFBI’s Cloth Banking Network.
