“When you empower one person, you create the opportunity to impact many more. That’s how lasting change begins.”
This belief came to life on June 26, 2026, as Victory Empowerment Centre (VEC) partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) to extend hope and nourishment to vulnerable families through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). More than a food distribution, the outreach reflected a shared commitment to empowering communities by meeting one of their most fundamental needs: access to nutritious food.
Representing the Victory Empowerment Centre were Dr. Uzoma Nwazuoke, CEO, Mrs. Cherechi Uzoma, Executive Director, and their team of volunteers. Together with LFBI staff and volunteers, they packaged and distributed nutritious staple food boxes capable of sustaining vulnerable households for more than two weeks, bringing timely relief to families across the Gbagada community.
As a social enterprise committed to empowering underserved women, youth, micro-entrepreneurs, and low-income communities, Victory Empowerment Centre extended its mission beyond financial inclusion by investing in the well-being of families facing food insecurity. The outreach reflected the organization’s belief that sustainable empowerment begins with meeting people’s most basic needs and creating opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
The atmosphere was filled with purpose as the VEC team worked side by side with LFBI volunteers to distribute food boxes. Smiles were exchanged, conversations flowed, and what began as a corporate social responsibility initiative quickly became a meaningful expression of compassion and shared humanity.
Dr. Michael Sunbola, Executive Director, Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), expressed sincere appreciation to Victory Empowerment Centre for partnering with the Food Bank to support vulnerable families through TEFAP. He commended the organization’s commitment to community development and acknowledged the dedication of the volunteers whose unwavering service continues to make life-changing interventions possible.
Speaking on behalf of Victory Empowerment Centre, Dr. Uzoma Nwazuoke, CEO, commended the Lagos Food Bank Initiative for its far-reaching humanitarian efforts in advancing food security across Nigeria. According to the CEO, the Lagos Food Bank came as a recommendation from his daughter who serves as a volunteer at the Food Bank. He praised the organization for the countless lives touched through its interventions and the lasting impact it continues to make in vulnerable communities. They also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers, acknowledging their time, commitment, and selfless service to humanity as an inspiration to all.
For the beneficiaries, the food boxes represented far more than nourishment. Many returned home carrying not only food, but also renewed hope for the days ahead.
This partnership reflects the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s unwavering commitment to combating hunger and malnutrition through targeted interventions such as TEFAP. By joining hands with LFBI, Victory Empowerment Centre demonstrated that empowering communities goes beyond financial inclusion. It also means ensuring that families have the dignity, stability, and support they need to build a better future. Indeed, when one family is empowered, the impact reaches far beyond the individual, strengthening homes, uplifting communities, and creating lasting change.
