On January 7, 2025, Lagos Food Bank, in partnership with Olivia Anakwe, executed a successful outreach to welcome children back to school after the festive holidays. The initiative, carried out through the EDUFOOD school feeding program, celebrated the resilience of the students and motivated them for the new academic term. It aimed to inspire and show support, reinforcing that their educational journey is valued and that they have the strength to build a brighter future.

Olivia and her family gladly visited classrooms in low-cost schools in Agege community to actively take part in the distribution, having been involved in the packaging of the items. Amid sincere smiles and cheers, they distributed nutritious foods and drinks to the children, which made the outreach even more memorable. Their presence truly highlighted the importance of community engagement, as the children received both the physical and emotional nourishment that they needed to start the term strong.

With excitement and gratitude, the partner acknowledged the long-standing collaboration with Lagos Food Bank. She emphasized her eagerness to continue working together to reach more children who need support to transform their aspirations into reality, furthering the mission of sustaining education and nourishment in underserved areas.

A key message from Olivia was her call for those in the diaspora to leverage the expertise of Lagos Food Bank in making a tangible difference in grassroots communities in Nigeria. Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s Executive Director, Dr. Michael Sunbola, commended everyone in attendance, particularly the volunteers, whose unwavering dedication helped make the outreach a success. Their selflessness left an indelible mark on the children, creating lasting memories and showing them that they are valued.
