The partnership between Lagos Food Bank Initiative and Mercy Aigbe, a renowned actress of Nollywood, proved to be a lifeline for building resilience and promoting general well-being in women and families residing in underserved communities across Lagos State.

Taking place on the 20th of November 2024, at the Lagos Food Bank Warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, the remarkable success of this distribution was crowned with the presentation of Certificate Of Public Good, an honor given to those who have a track record of sacrifice and service to community development engagements, and the partner of the day, Mercy Aigbe, is one good example, deserving of such recognition.

The energy and aura she brought to the outreach venue uplifted the spirits of beneficiaries who were to receive the food boxes, and also the volunteers present, most of whom are fanatics of her movie roles and productions, vibrant lifestyle and philanthropic activities. Amidst the present economic condition many families living below the poverty line face, this timely outreach delivered not only nutritious staple foods, decent clothing and relief items to beneficiaries, but also hope and comfort, despite the numerous challenges.

In his welcoming speech to the attendees of the outreach, the Founder and Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner and her team for their partnership and dedication to support those most in need of care. He also commended the unwavering commitment of the food bank volunteers who showed up in numbers to support this very act of kindness and love to needy households.

“I am so impressed with what Lagos Food Bank is doing for families and communities and I am happy to be a part of this impactful organization. What they are doing for people is much needed for this country to grow in the right direction and urge everyone who is able to contribute their resources to join the fight against hunger and malnutrition with this wonderful organization,” said Mercy Aigbe, the partner of the day, right after she engaged in the packaging of food boxes, alongside volunteers of the food bank.

As part of her own way of promoting her professional works, branded t-shirts and a sum of five thousand naira was given to ten of the lucky beneficiaries, who were able to supply the name of her latest movie production, “Thin Line.”

As a way of sustaining the initiative to foster resilience in underserved communities, Lagos Food Bank leverages on partnerships with corporate organizations, foundations and individuals to impact more families in need of support through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
