On Wednesday, 24 June 2026, Ineza Care Foundation partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) through its Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention for Vulnerable Mothers and Children (NUMEPLAN) Programme. The initiative, which focuses on reducing undernutrition among children under five as well as pregnant and lactating mothers, brought together both organizations in a shared commitment to improving maternal and child health.
The Ineza Care Foundation team were welcomed with a tour of the Lagos Food Bank’s facility, gaining valuable insight into the operations and impact of one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous non-profit organizations. The visit underscored the importance of collaboration in the development sector, demonstrating how partnerships can amplify efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to women and children.
As part of the day’s activities, volunteers joined the packaging of nutritious food for beneficiaries while mothers and caregivers participated in a nutrition and health education session designed to improve feeding practices and overall wellbeing. A cloth banking session also enabled families to select quality clothing and footwear for themselves and their children, helping to ease household expenses and allowing more income to be directed toward nutritious meals.
Reflecting on the experience, Ms. Deborah Edwards, Deputy Programs Coordinator at Ineza Care Foundation, commended the consistency and impact of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s work, noting that many of the interventions her organization hopes to implement have already been successfully executed by LFBI. She expressed Ineza Care Foundation’s enthusiasm for future collaborations and encouraged more individuals and organizations to partner with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to expand its reach and deepen its impact through meaningful collaboration.
The partnership reflects a shared vision of creating healthier communities by ensuring that vulnerable mothers and children have access to the nutrition, knowledge, and support they need to thrive.
