On the 21st of December, 2024, HF Markets Nigeria partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative to mark the Christmas celebration with a CSR engagement, providing nourishment and personal relief items to women and families from underserved communities across Lagos, through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), as a way of extending the spirit of giving and sharing the joy of the season with needy households.
Taking place at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, the outreach witnessed a large turn-out of corporate volunteers from the partner organization, HF Markets Nigeria, actively participating in the activities of the day, from the packaging of food boxes to the handing out of the boxes to beneficiaries, they were also taken on a tour of the food bank facilities after a brief presentation to better understand the food bank operations and programs.
In the absence of Ope Abiola, the Managing Director of HF Markets Nigeria, a representative from the organization appreciated the food bank for another successful partnership to impact communities, having collaborated earlier in the year to support families in Oworonshoki community. She also highlighted the delight in the faces of beneficiaries as they received their food boxes as it was heartwarming and fulfilling to know that over 200 women have improved access to food security for their families for the coming weeks.
Addressing attendees of the outreach, the Founder/Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner organization for a returning partnership through TEFAP to combat food insecurity in underserved communities. He also highlighted the significance of extending the love and joy of the season by providing for the needy as a way of delivering hope, building resilience and promoting good health in low-income communities.
The outreach also witnessed the attendance of volunteers in good numbers, who dedicated their time in solidarity of community-driven projects to help out and ensure a seamless distribution process.
Partnerships like this represents a beacon of hope to individuals and families in underserved communities, providing short-term food security to foster equitable access to nutrition for healthier and stronger communities.
