On July 31, 2025, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) once again served as a vehicle to improve the livelihood of people. Through consistent community outreach and partnerships, LFBI continues to provide not just food, but hope and dignity to vulnerable families across Lagos. Priscillia Nwosu, celebrating her 40th birthday, chose to mark the occasion uniquely: by giving back to women from households experiencing food insecurity through the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

Instead of a typical birthday party, Priscillia arrived at the Food Bank warehouse with her friends, not to be celebrated, but to serve. Together with volunteers, she packaged food boxes, working side by side with those who make this mission possible every day. The atmosphere was joyful and heartfelt, as Priscillia turned what could have been a private celebration into a public act of kindness.

One by one, she handed food boxes to each woman, along with a small amount of cash to help cover transportation. Their faces lit up with gratitude, with contagious smiles flying around. In that moment, it was clear that Priscillia’s gesture was more than a gift; it was a lifeline.

Reflecting on the experience, Priscillia shared;
“I think this is a good way to celebrate the gift of life – by giving others the reason to live.”

This simple yet powerful act exemplifies the true spirit of community, celebrating not just for oneself, but with and for others. Priscillia’s 40th birthday became a heartfelt reminder that genuine joy comes from uplifting those in need, and that a single act of kindness can create lasting impact. The Lagos Food Bank Initiative is deeply honored to have shared in such a meaningful celebration.
