Amidst the high living costs and food insecurity suffered by vulnerable families living below the poverty line in underserved communities nationwide, Lagos Food Bank Initiative and Boston Consulting Group, BCG, collaborated for a corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement to provide support for families in Oshodi community grappling with food insecurity to foster resilience and good health through nutrition.
Taking place on the 28th of June 2025, at the heart of the community on Ishola Daniels street in Oshodi, both organizations, well-represented by team members and volunteers, stormed the community in numbers to serve those most deserving of support during a time of harsh economic realities.
Apart from distributing food boxes to last a family of 4 to 5 for 3 weeks, the outreach also witnessed the distribution of decent clothing and accessories to enable these households channel their limited resources to more pressing needs, restoring dignity and igniting hope in the lives of the beneficiaries.
In his address to attendees of the outreach, the Executive Director/Founder of the Food Bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner of the day for their timely partnership to support families in need. He highlighted their commitment as a beacon of hope to the underserved populace and commended the dedication of volunteers who showed up in outstanding numbers despite the rainy day to show care and compassion for seniors, widows, pregnant women, and people living with disabilities, as they received their “boxes of hope.”
To conclude the day, testimonials were taken from the beneficiaries of the outreach by the Food Bank’s media team, a way of measuring the impact of the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) of the nonprofit organization, an initiative aimed to address food insecurity affecting the vulnerable population in underserved communities.
