On Friday, September 11, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) welcomed Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for its third partnership with the organization, this time through the Family Farming Program in Papa Ashafa, Iyana Ipaja.

The outreach focused on equipping women and youth with the resources and practical support needed to establish or expand small-scale vegetable, snail and poultry farming within their homes and communities.

This engagement marked another step in the growing partnership between LFBI and BCG. Their earlier collaborations provided immediate food assistance to households through TEFAP, while this intervention shifted the focus towards sustainable food production and livelihood support.

During the outreach, beneficiaries received starter resources to help them begin or strengthen their farming activities. By turning available spaces around their homes into productive farms, participants can grow food for their households while creating opportunities to generate income from their farming activities.

For the women and young people supported, the resources provided a starting point for building something of their own. Rather than receiving support that ends with a single distribution, they were equipped with inputs that can continue to produce food and support household livelihoods over time.

LFBI expressed appreciation to BCG for returning for a third partnership and for supporting an intervention that complements immediate food assistance with longer-term solutions to food insecurity.

Through the Family Farming Program, LFBI continues to create pathways for households to become more food secure and economically resilient. In Papa Ashafa, the focus was simple but significant: give people the resources to grow, and create the opportunity for that growth to continue beyond the day of the outreach.
