On April 17th, 2025, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, a leading bank with an international footprint and 13 branches across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community development and social impact.

In partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), the Bank reached out to vulnerable families through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). The outreach took place at the LFBI warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, and marked another milestone in the Bank’s ongoing support for the fight against hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria.

The event saw an impressive turnout from the Bank’s staff, with the Country CEO, Mr. Dalu Ajene, leading the charge alongside several top executives. Also in attendance were Dayo Omolokun (Chief Financial Officer), Rachael Asonibare (Chief Technology and Operations Officer), Joke Adu (Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing), and Sola Mabadele (Head of Legal and Company Secretary)—all joining hands to make a tangible impact.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank InitiativeDr. Michael Sunbola, described Mr. Ajene as “a long-time friend” of LFBI, highlighting his early support dating back to 2017 and his continued advocacy for its mission. His leadership, alongside that of the entire Country Management Team, speaks volumes about the Bank’s core values of empathy, responsibility, and community support.

The atmosphere at the Food Bank warehouse was electric with purpose. The Standard Chartered Bank team packed and distributed staple food items with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to connect with the beneficiaries. Every staff member played an active role in furthering the mission of alleviating hunger among resilient families.

This outreach goes beyond the bounds of corporate social responsibility—it reflects Standard Chartered Bank’s genuine commitment to creating lasting impact in the communities it serves. By stepping up to support vulnerable families, the Bank continues to lead not just in financial services, but in driving social good, showing that when purpose-driven institutions and passionate individuals unite, real change is possible.
