On Thursday, July 25th, 2024, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative furthered its impact in low-income communities across the nation by organizing a distribution to provide staple food items to 10 non-profit organizations from far-to-reach LGAs in Lagos and beyond, including southwestern states like Ogun and Oyo.

The food grants were geared towards helping NGOs partnered with the food bank to reach more beneficiaries in their communities and reduce the impact of hunger and food insecurity nationwide.

Mr. Samuel Kwame Mensah, the founder of Umbrella for the African Child, expressed his sincere gratitude and stated that the items received would go a long way in impacting the lives of children and families they support.

Taking place at the food bank warehouse, representatives of the partner NGOs were also trained on designing an effective communication plan to communicate their efforts to the public, which was facilitated by the program officers in charge Maume Agbaosi and Sarah Ikemefuna.

Sarah Ikemefuna, one of the program officers, applauded the work of the NGOs in ending hunger in their respective communities, and also welcomed them to the food bank on behalf of the Executive Director, Dr. Michael Sunbola.

To conclude the impactful program, a representative from each organization present gave their testimonials and highlighted how the support from the Lagos Food Bank Initiative has been helpful for the sustenance of their feeding initiatives.
