Celebrated annually on February 27, World NGO Day honors the invaluable role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in driving social, economic, and humanitarian change. It serves as a powerful platform to recognize their impact, amplify awareness of their work, and foster collaboration between governments, businesses, and civil society.

The day also sheds light on the challenges NGOs face—from funding constraints to operational hurdles—while advocating for policies that strengthen their missions. It’s a moment to appreciate the dedication of volunteers, donors, and changemakers who work tirelessly to create a better world.

As a leading force in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) will mark World NGO Day 2025 with an impactful food distribution program. Through the Food Banking Network Nigeria (FBNN) initiative, LFBI will support fellow NGOs within and beyond Lagos by providing food resources to extend their reach and impact.

Taking place on February 27, 2025, at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, this initiative aims to improve food security for underserved communities, ensuring that more vulnerable households receive the nourishment they need.

 

GOAL OF THE OUTREACH:

  • To mark this year’s World NGO Day by creating a more food-secure and resilient society in Nigeria, where vulnerable families in low-income communities have reliable access to nourishing food.

OUTREACH OBJECTIVES:

  • Addressing Food Insecurity: Reduce food deficits in low-income communities by providing wholesome and nutritious food through partner NGOs.
  • Supporting Local NGOs: Extend the reach of local NGOs within their communities by offering essential resources through the Food Bank Network program.
  • Mitigating Hunger-Related Challenges: Decrease the prevalence of nutrition-related diseases in underserved communities.
