On Friday, October 16, 2026, World Food Day, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) partnered with Bank of Agriculture (BOA) Limited for a special Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) outreach at its warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja. The exercise provided essential food support to families from communities across Lagos facing food insecurity.

As Nigeria’s premier government-sponsored agricultural and rural development finance institution, Bank of Agriculture plays a role in supporting the country’s agricultural sector. Through this partnership, the bank extended its efforts to the community level, helping provide direct food assistance to households experiencing difficulty accessing adequate nutrition.

A strong BOA team participated in the outreach, with Mrs. Adeboye Rasheedat, Branch Head of the Ikeja Branch, speaking on behalf of the bank. She thanked LFBI for the opportunity to collaborate on World Food Day and reaffirmed BOA’s commitment to initiatives that strengthen food security within communities. She also highlighted the bank’s fully digitalised and computerised operations, noting the importance of looking beyond food production to the practical challenges households face in accessing adequate nutrition.

Other representatives in attendance included Mrs. Bamigbade A.S. and Mrs. Ekeh Ngozi, both of the Ikeja Branch; Mrs. Adereni M.O., Badagry Branch Head; and Mr. Dada G.K., Epe Branch Head. Their participation brought together representatives from multiple branches in support of the outreach.

During the exercise, BOA representatives joined LFBI’s efforts to package and distribute food boxes to beneficiaries. The boxes provided essential food items to familie;s, offering practical assistance with household food needs at a time when the cost of meeting daily necessities can be a significant burden.

LFBI appreciates Bank of Agriculture Limited for choosing to mark World Food Day through this partnership. The collaboration highlights the role institutions can play in addressing food insecurity by complementing their core activities with direct support for families and communities.

The outreach formed part of LFBI’s wider World Food Day 2026 activities, which brought partners together to improve food access through programmes such as TEFAP. By working with institutions like Bank of Agriculture, LFBI continues to extend practical food assistance to households across Lagos and strengthen collective efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition.
