On the 7th of December 2024, The PowerWoman Network will partner with Lagos Food Bank Initiative to support women and families from in Ebute-Metta Community by providing them with essential food and household items through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), to alleviate the hardship faced by many households in underserved communities, offering them much-needed support and care during challenging times. 

Lagos Food Bank is dedicated to providing healthy and nutritious meals to individuals of all backgrounds ensuring that everyone has access to food. This outreach will advance the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 2: zero hunger.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:

Divided into two major parts- Ebute Metta East and West, and it is known for the production and sale of local foods and cloths. It was a swampy stretch of land but for areas reclaimed for development. It therefore has communities within swamps as well as those on dry lands.

The PowerWoman Network is a network of female business leaders and professionals’ birth with a shared mission of enhancing the growth of women in the corporate, political, and business leadership scenes.

GOAL:
To make a positive impact on the lives of food-insecure families, addressing immediate needs while also promoting long-term well-being.

Objectives:

  1. To provide food and household items to women from low-income families to foster their well-being.
  2. To create a supportive environment that uplifts and empowers low-income families.
