On Saturday 29th of March, 2025, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative in partnership with GloWorld will reach out to vulnerable women living in Lekki community (Ikota-Ajah), Lagos, with staple foods, decent clothing and relief materials through its Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
This impactful partnership is set to bridge the hunger gap affecting households living below the poverty line in Lekki community (Ikota-Ajah), thereby fostering resilience and general well being to improve national development.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:
Ikota-Ajah is a community located within the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. It has gained prominence as part of the rapidly developing Lekki Peninsula, an area known for its mix of residential estates, commercial activities, and modern infrastructure. Ikota’s origins are deeply rooted in the history of the Yoruba people, particularly the Awori sub-group, who are believed to be among the earliest settlers in the Lagos area. Like many other parts of Lagos, Ikota was originally a rural settlement that relied on agriculture, fishing, and small-scale trading.
ABOUT OUR PARTNER:
GloWorld, the brand name for telecommunications company Globacom Limited, offers a range of services including mobile voice and data, internet, and corporate solutions, with a focus on providing affordable and accessible technology to its customers in Nigeria and Ghana.
GOAL:
This outreach is dedicated to supporting vulnerable women in the Lekki community (Ikota-Ajah) by easing the burden of food insecurity. Through the provision of nutritious staple foods, decent clothing, and essential personal care items, we aim to bring comfort and relief, ensuring they have the sustenance they need for the coming weeks.
OBJECTIVES:
- To address food insecurity affecting vulnerable families living in Lekki community (Ikota-Ajah).
- To improve the health of the older population through proper feeding and to encourage healthy diet.
- To reduce the effects of hunger by providing nutritious food and relief materials to vulnerable households to promote healthy living.
