On Friday 11th October 2024, Lagos Food Bank Initiative will partner with Hewlett Packard (HP) Incorporation to provide nutrition and relief items to resilient families in Akoka-Bariga Community in Lagos through the TEFAP intervention. This outreach is set to mitigate the effect of the increased cost of food and other basic needs within low-income communities.
For the past 8 years, the Lagos Food Bank has remained steadfast in its mission to eradicate hunger, malnutrition, and poverty within the communities it serves. Strategic partnerships like this play a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s vision and bringing us closer to a future where no one goes hungry.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:
Akoka-Bariga community is a popular district suburb in Lagos State. Bariga community is surrounded by water from the coastal lines along the Third Mainland Bridge, and is neighbor to Gbagada and Shomolu. The community serves as a Local Council Development Area within the state. Although it has electricity, the area lacks good roads, hospitals, schools, good drainage systems and waste disposal systems. Most of the inhabitants of downtown Bariga are artisans, fishermen and women, traders, due to the location of the community.
