In celebration of World Hunger Day, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative will support 9 different reputable non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to reach food-insecure households in low-income communities across Nigeria through the Food Bank Network Nigeria Program on Wednesday, 28th May 2025.
This program is aimed at providing much-needed nourishment to individuals and families facing food insecurity. The collaborative effort aims to alleviate hunger and malnutrition, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to essential food supplies.
Through this collaboration, LFBI and its NGO partners, particularly those focused on nutrition, aim to amplify their impact and reach more vulnerable populations across the country. By supplying these organizations with the necessary resources, the partnership is committed to making strides in the fight against hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria.
The goal of the Outreach: The primary goal of this outreach is to provide immediate relief to food-insecure households, improve their nutritional status, and contribute to the overall well-being of individuals in vulnerable communities.
Objectives:
- To reduce the food gap in low-income communities: By providing them with healthy and nutritious food.
- Expand Reach: Distribute food supplies to a wider network of low-income communities across Nigeria, targeting those most affected by food insecurity.
- Promote Collaboration: Foster stronger partnerships between LFBI and local NGOs to create a sustainable support system for vulnerable populations.
- Raise Awareness: Increase public awareness about the issue of food insecurity in Nigeria and the critical role of food banks in addressing this challenge.
- Strengthen Community Resilience: Enhance the capacity of communities to cope with food insecurity by providing resources and support.
