School meals play a crucial role in achieving 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting their importance in fostering prosperous societies. Education serves as a key pathway linking nutrition to sustainable development by cultivating quality human capital.
On Friday, March 14, 2025, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative will partner with Emerald’s Community Foundation through the EDUFOOD program to sustain the provision of nutritious meals for food-insecure children in low-cost private schools.
ABOUT OUR PARTNER:
The Emeralds Community Foundation is a foundation that aims to provide daily meals and relief food items to underprivileged individuals and families, as well as school uniforms, shoes, and learning materials for disadvantaged children, including those with special needs. The foundation also offers empowerment programs for individuals eager to learn new skills and promote independence.
GOAL:
To provide an enabling environment that fosters the ability of children to acquire equitable and quality education.
OBJECTIVES:
- To ensure consistent access to nutritious meals for food insecure school children
- To support learning by creating engaging experiences that spark creativity
