Food insecurity contributes strongly to poor student’s school attendance. It also affects the concentration level, memory and overall mood and learning abilities of young students. This disproportionately affects children from economically disadvantaged families who attend low-cost schools. Addressing food insecurity is non-negotiable as a tool for nation building by providing a conducive environment for children’s education.
In celebration of Children’s Day, Lagos Food Bank Initiative will partner with Rex Mafiana Foundation through the school-feeding program of the Food Bank, EDUFOOD, to provide nutritious hot meals to young students during school hours. This is an incremental effort towards improving food security and ensuring that children irrespective of their background have equitable access to nutrition and quality education to ensure a brighter future.
