LFBI celebrates the discharge of Victoria, Gabriel, Prosper, Iyanuoluwa, Chikamso, Esther, Benedicta and Purity who were enrolled as malnourished babies unable to either feed well, sit, stand or walk and were not growing as expected of a normal healthy baby under our Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention for Vulnerable Mother and Children (NUMEPLAN) program.

Within the nine months of their enrollment with biweekly visitation for check up and counseling, Victoria showed physical changes in weight from 6.6kg to 8kg, length from 64cm to 70cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11.5cm to 12.6cm, Gabriel showed physical changes in weight from 4.4kg to 7.2kg, length from 59cm to 66cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 10cm to 12cm, Prosper showed physical changes in weight from 6.6kg to 8.8kg, length from 64cm to 72.5cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11cm to 13cm, Iyanuoluwa showed physical changes in weight from 6kg to 7.8kg, length from 59cm to 71cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11.3cm to 12.9cm, Chikamso showed physical changes in weight from 3.8kg to 7.3kg, length from 55cm to 65cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 9cm to 13.3cm, Esther showed physical changes in weight from 7.7kg to 9.1kg, length from 69cm to 75cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11.5cm to 13.3cm, Benedicta showed physical changes in weight from 6.8kg to 8.7kg, length from 60cm to 77cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11.6cm to 12.6cm, Purity showed physical changes in weight from 6kg to 9.5kg, length from 66cm to 78.5cm and mid-upper arm circumference from 11cm to 13.5cm. There was also improvement in their food intake and they could now sit, stand and walk unassisted.

Their mothers/guardians were counseled on infant and young feeding practices, food fortification, feeding habits (like giving the baby food every 3/4 hours interval daily) and feeding during illnesses. They were provided with nutritious food items and supplements at every two
weeks visitation.

We are glad that their mothers complied with the instructions and counsels given by our in-house dietitian which has yielded visible positive changes in the babies.
