On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) welcomed Olam Agri for the fifth time as the organization joined the Food Bank to kick off its World Food Day 2026 outreach week. At the LFBI warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, the Olam Agri team worked alongside staff and volunteers on a Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) packaging and distribution exercise to support resilient women and families facing food insecurity.

Guided by this year’s World Food Day theme, “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” the partnership brought practical food support to households across four states. Through the partnership, 600 food boxes were distributed across Lagos, Kano, Nasarawa and Kwara, with the warehouse activity in Lagos marking the opening engagement of the outreach week.

Throughout the exercise, Olam Agri team members joined LFBI staff and volunteers in preparing the food boxes for distribution. Their hands-on participation reflected the company’s continued engagement with the Food Bank and its commitment to supporting communities through practical action.

Dr. Michael Sunbola, Founder and Executive Director of LFBI, expressed appreciation to Olam Agri for its continued partnership. He highlighted the role of sustained corporate collaboration in addressing food insecurity, noting the importance of long-term partnerships in strengthening food security.

Elizabeth Nnoko, Communications Manager at Olam Agri, also spoke about the longstanding relationship between both organisations. She explained that the food products provided were intended to help nourish households facing food insecurity and reaffirmed Olam Agri’s commitment to initiatives that strengthen food security and support communities.

For families receiving the food boxes, the support meant having essential food items to take home and share with their households. At a time when meeting daily food needs can place considerable pressure on family resources, the boxes offered practical relief.

Olam Agri’s fifth partnership with the Food Bank demonstrated how sustained collaboration can help extend food assistance to households across multiple states. The engagement set the tone for a week of activities focused on improving food access and advancing collective efforts to address hunger.
