Driven by the passion to provide hunger relief; Mrs. Oluwdara Durojiaye partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative on Saturday June 10, 2023 to reach out to vulnerable women of Dopemu and Agege community to commemorate Mrs Dara’s birthday and tagged Sharing Love with Dara.
The outreach kicked off with a medical outreach, with the medical team of One Health Pharmacy who were implementing first aid medical services prior to the start of the TEFAP outreach. The team conducted free blood pressure and blood sugar tests with consultations and drugs for the treatment of ailments of the beneficiaries. Members of the Food Blog 9ja team were also present at the implementation of the outreach.
During this period, box packaging activities at the food bank warehouse were underway. The partner, her family and friends upon arrival were also engaged in the packaging of all items within the warehouse.
The Executive Director of LFBI, Dr. Michael Sunbola, during his welcome address, recognized and thanked all participants. He specially identified Mrs. Dara has used this special occasion to impact lives through food donation. Mrs. Dara described her experience during the outreach as amazing, and eye opening to a big need and was excited at the chance to give back. She also commended the organization (LFBI) for executing the outreach seamlessly and for being well organized. She concluded with a call for more volunteering of services and donations.
The distribution in which beneficiaries received their boxes of hope were packaged with food relief items that can sustain a family of 5 for 2-4 weeks. They also received donated clothing items through the Cloth Banking Network (CBN).
