Lagos Food Bank Initiative successfully partnered with Hewlett-Packard (HP) on October 25th 2024, to curb food insecurity among students through the EDUFOOD program. The outreach took place in Agege community, where five HP team members actively supported the initiative. They engaged directly with the children, serving hot nutritious meals and fostering a sense of community, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact.
The proprietress of one of the beneficiary schools, Divine Wisdom, located along Oniwaya Road, Agege, expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am sincerely grateful to Lagos Food Bank for always coming around to feed our students with nutritious meals. This weekly activity has been consistent and has significantly increased the number of students enrolled in our school over time.” She believes that expanding program like EDUFOOD could significantly decrease the number of out-of-school children in Lagos State.
Ms. Josephine Kolawole, the Sustainability Coordinator for HP Central Africa, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “We are here because every child deserves quality education, and those dedicated to learning, regardless of their backgrounds, need proper support.” She commended Lagos Food Bank for their outstanding work through the EDUFOOD program and expressed Hewlett-Packard’s eagerness to do more. Another HP team member – Ms. Chizoba Nwaobia – reflected on her most memorable moment during the outreach: the joy of the children receiving their hot meals. “The happiness cannot be described in words,” she shared.
The success of this outreach was made possible by the selfless contributions of over 25 volunteers, who dedicated their time and efforts to ensure that this impactful activity reached its meaningful conclusion. Together, they made a significant difference in the lives of these students, reinforcing the belief that community support can lead to lasting change.
