Over the years, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has provided thriving businesses with the opportunity to improve the well being of the communities they operate in through community-driven projects. Through a meaningful partnership to execute a CSR initiative, Kuda Microfinance Bank and Lagos Food Bank embarked on a community-centered outreach to nourish vulnerable households with staple foods, while also providing decent clothing to ease the effect of economic hardship in underserved areas like Makoko community.
Taking place at the heart of Makoko community on Saturday 18th October, 2025, the memorable day witnessed a large turnout of corporate volunteers from the partner organization, who sacrificed their time to engage in meaningful work to serve humanity. Working alongside the Food Bank team and their registered volunteer workforce, the distribution exercise was seamlessly carried out, making the partnership a successful and impactful, putting smiles on the faces of hundreds of families as they received their boxes of hope.

Addressing attendees of the outreach at Makoko community, the Founder/Executive Director of LFBI, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partner of the day for their timely partnership, knowing the challenges faced by many families living below the poverty line in providing basic needs such as nutritious and safe meals. He highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing the pressing issue of hunger and encouraged all present to advocate for more stakeholders to key into the vision and mission of the Food Bank and show support for the cause with meaningful partnerships. He also showed gratitude for the corporate volunteers, and the new Food Bank volunteers, taking part in an outreach for the first time.

Emmanuel Femi-Adejobi, the Senior Brand Manager at Kuda Microfinance Bank, also addressed attendees just before the start of the distribution, expressing his delight in such impactful CSR engagement with the Lagos Food Bank, and thanked the nonprofit organization for a well-organized outreach. He appreciated his team members for showing up and bringing the energy and enthusiasm to cheer up, uplift and serve people most deserving of support in Makoko community.
It was indeed a beautiful experience as volunteers from both organizations teamed up in unity against hunger affecting people of Makoko community. It was a testimony to the impact that can be created when people come together against a common threat to society. The smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries was fulfilling, and their body language spelled excitement upon receiving their boxes of hope as they danced their way back to their respective homes.
By leveraging CSR to engage in this meaningful partnership with Lagos Food Bank Initiative, Kuda Microfinance Bank did not only deliver hope to the people of Makoko community, but also ensured food insecure families don’t go to bed hungry for the next 2 to 3 weeks.
