In celebration of International Women’s Day, Lagos Food Bank Initiative will partner with Oxygen X through the Family Farming program to empower women in Agege community to establish urban backyard farms for the sustainability of their families.

Set to take place on the 18th of March, 2026, in Agege Community, this initiative will provide the training and resources required for beneficiaries to start poultry farms in the confinement of their homes, allowing them access to fresh farm produce for consumption and enterprise.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY:

Agege is a densely populated, vibrant residential and commercial suburb in Lagos State, Nigeria, known for its deep-rooted history, Hausa and Yoruba mix, and as the home of the popular “Agege bread”. Originally known as “Ilú Àwọn Ageigi” (town of tree cutters) from the kola nut industry, it is a bustling, diverse community with key locations like Pen-Cinema, Dopemu, and Orile-Agege.

ABOUT OUR PARTNER:

Oxygen X is a Nigerian digital-first financial services company and a subsidiary of Access Holdings PLC, launched in 2024 to provide accessible, AI-powered consumer lending and credit products across Africa.

To promote food security, household income, and community resilience by providing start-up materials for poultry farming to resilient women in Agege community.
