On March 17, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) launched the first phase of an impactful partnership with CWAY Group, through the EDUFOOD and TEFAP programs. This initiative delivered essential nutrition to schoolchildren and resilient women in Isolo community, Lagos State.
Held at the heart of the Isolo community, the outreach brought together volunteers, LFBI staff, and representatives from CWAY Group in a shared effort to address food insecurity and promote equitable access to proper nutrition. The day featured hands-on distribution of nutritious meals tailored for schoolchildren and thoughtfully packaged food boxes for families to provide immediate relief and foster long-term stability.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth and connection: smiles from young students receiving nourishing meals, gratitude from women and families, and a collective sense of purpose in addressing immediate needs while building long-term impact.
Dr. Michael Sunbola, Founder and Executive Director of LFBI, delivered inspiring remarks, expressing profound appreciation to CWAY Group for their thoughtful partnership and for investing in the well-being of vulnerable children and households. He commended the volunteers and team for their dedication in making the outreach dignified, efficient, and truly transformative.
Mr. Gbenga Gbegede, Head of Administration at CWAY Group, also addressed attendees, emphasizing food as a fundamental need of life and highlighting the privilege of partnering with LFBI to deliver support at the community level to women and children.
For beneficiaries, the support brought immediate relief and renewed hope: schoolchildren gained energy and focus for learning, while resilient women and families received staples to ease daily burdens and foster stability. Their expressions of thanks reflected the profound difference made through collaborative compassion.
This first-phase of the ongoing partnership in Lagos sets the stage for continued efforts in Ogun State, aligning with LFBI’s mission to combat hunger and malnutrition through targeted programs like EDUFOOD and TEFAP. CWAY Group’s involvement stands as a powerful example of how partnerships can nourish lives and strengthen communities, one child, one household, and one step toward a more resilient society.
