December 22, 2025, was a day to remember for beneficiaries of the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Family Farming Program of the Food Bank, made possible through a meaningful partnership with FinTech giants, TransactPay.

The impactful day began with a warm welcome of the team members from TransactPay, and a guided tour of the Food Bank facility where an insightful presentation on the Food Bank’s operations revealed their commitment and passion to service underserved communities.

From providing immediate food relief to resilient women and their families at the Food Bank warehouse, to setting up women and youth for urban backyard farming to raise chickens for consumption and enterprise in Dopemu community, the activities of the day was filled with compassion in action as Food Bank volunteers and staff joined hands with team members from TransactPay to put smiles on the faces of economically disadvantaged individuals and families facing food insecurity.

“Today we are excited to do this with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, and so far the impact has been massive. Caring for communities is one of our core values and this is why we chose to partner with Lagos Food Bank because we have been following their activities for sometime now,” said a representative of TransactPay, during her interview with the Food Bank’s media team.

Addressing attendees of the Family Farming outreach at Dopemu community, the Founder/Executive Director of the Food Bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partners of the day for a timely collaboration for community development. He also emphasized the importance of the sustainability initiative to help improve access to quality nutrition and boost household income which would go a long way in building resilience.

The partnership was a huge success, recording a good number of volunteers who showed up in support of both outreaches. The beneficiaries who received food boxes expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Food Bank and their partners, while those that received start-up materials for poultry farming went to their various homes joyfully and optimistic for a food secure future.
