On March 13, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) and Standard Chartered Bank collaborated for the third successive time through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), providing vital food relief to resilient women and families in underserved communities across three states.

This partnership achieved new scale by extending simultaneously across three states: Lagos (at the LFBI warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja), Abuja, and Port Harcourt (Rivers State). Leveraging the Food Bank Network Nigeria (FBNN) model, credible partner NGOs in Abuja and Port Harcourt executed distributions in parallel with the Lagos event, illustrating how collaborative networks can broaden reach and unite efforts nationwide to combat hunger more effectively.

At the Food Bank warehouse, Standard Chartered Bank’s team joined LFBI staff and volunteers in a warm, hands-on experience: packaging nutritious food boxes, and distributing them with care. The food boxes offered immediate nourishment and a foundation for family stability, evoking visible gratitude and hope among beneficiaries.

A highlight of the day came through inspiring remarks from Standard Chartered Bank’s leadership. Joke Adu, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, expressed sincere appreciation for the partnership and the collective dedication of everyone involved, while conveying optimism that future collaborations would build on this momentum with even greater scale and impact. Ayodeji Adelagun, CEO for Standard Chartered Bank, Nigeria, commended LFBI’s unwavering work in addressing food insecurity and encouraged continued efforts, reflecting that a life lived in service to others is truly a life worth living.

Dr. Michael Sunbola, Founder and Executive Director of LFBI, expressed profound appreciation to Standard Chartered Bank for their sustained commitment and for choosing to amplify impact across multiple cities. He praised the volunteers, partner NGOs, and team for their seamless coordination and passionate participation in making the outreach a success.

This initiative reaffirms LFBI’s vision of scaling solutions through strategic partnerships and networks like FBNN, fostering resilience not only in Lagos but throughout Nigeria. Standard Chartered Bank’s ongoing support demonstrates how aligned corporate purpose and community action can create widespread change, nourishing households and inspiring hope through acts of kindness.
