On December 17, 2025, Lagos Food Bank, in partnership with Devyani International (Nigeria) Ltd, the operators of KFC restaurants in Nigeria, took the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) to an underserved community in Oworonshoki, Lagos. The outreach aimed to provide immediate food relief to households affected by hunger and food insecurity, offering a variety of food items to alleviate hunger.
Our dedicated volunteers demonstrated their commitment to social impact by navigating the community and carrying food boxes to the inner parts of the area, ensuring that support reached those who needed it most. The women who received food items had nothing to give in return but sincere appreciation and prayers for everyone involved in the outreach. Volunteers who were in close contact with beneficiaries shared experiences of emotional moments that nearly moved them to tears, especially upon seeing children, some of whom clung to the food packages allocated to their families.
“More people need help than we think, and the happiness these people express when they get food shows how critical this support is in their homes,” said the Executive Director of Lagos Food Bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola.
For KFC Nigeria, social impact means going beyond intentions to fulfill CSR commitments. Partnering with Lagos Food Bank provides a platform to reach communities in urgent need, showing that collaboration can make a tangible difference. “We are not doing this to tick a box but to contribute our quota to improve the lives of people,” stated Satender Singh Saini, CEO of KFC Nigeria.
The outreach at Oworonshoki community was more than just a distribution of food; it was a reminder that food aid represents hope, relief, and the possibility of healthier lives. Through partnerships and the dedication of volunteers, TEFAP continues to make meaningful impacts for families in need.
