In celebration of World Food Day on Wednesday, 15th June 2025, Food Bank Network Nigeria continued its mission to combat food insecurity by partnering with five non-governmental organizations (NGOs) four based in Lagos and one in Kaduna to distribute essential food items to vulnerable households across Nigeria.
This collaboration underscores the power of collective action in the fight against hunger and the importance of supporting vulnerable households in need. Through this partnership, the organizations are able to extend their reach, ensuring that essential food items get to more families across various communities.
Maume Agbaosi, the Program Officer of Food Bank Network Nigeria, welcomed the participating NGOs and spoke on the significance of World Food Day and the vital role the organization plays in addressing food insecurity. In her remarks, she highlighted this year’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future,” and commended the NGOs for their dedication and commitment toward the shared goal of eradicating hunger in Nigeria.
Representatives from each NGO took turns introducing their programs and sharing stories of the positive impact they have made in low-income communities.
The session also featured a presentation on the work of Lagos Food Bank and an engaging discussion on developing effective communication strategies for NGOs. The program officer further emphasized the importance of collaboration and networking, encouraging the NGOs to connect and build stronger partnerships.
The event concluded with heartfelt messages from each NGO, expressing gratitude to Food Bank Network Nigeria for its invaluable support, which has been instrumental in sustaining their initiatives and expanding their reach to more vulnerable households.
