World Breastfeeding Week is a global campaign held every year to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding, promote optimal infant nutrition, and encourage sustainable support systems for mothers and babies.

Theme: “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”
This year, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, through its NUMEPLAN program, will engage breastfeeding mothers equipping them with the support and education needed to breastfeed successfully and protect their children from malnutrition.

Goal:
To promote breastfeeding as a key strategy for reducing malnutrition and to strengthen support
systems for vulnerable mothers.

Objectives:
1. Educate nursing mothers in low-cost communities on breastfeeding techniques and
overcoming common challenges.
2. Encourage family and community-based support for breastfeeding.
3. Highlight the role of breastfeeding in preventing malnutrition during the first 1,000 days.
