On the 2 nd of April, 2022, Lagos Food Bank Initiative will be reaching out to vulnerable and indigent residents of Papa Asafa community in Lagos, Nigeria, through the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). The TEFAP project is a community-based program of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative which is primarily targeted at providing immediate food, nutrition, and relief to vulnerable families in the nooks and crannies of underserved communities in and outside Lagos state.
COMMUNITY IN FOCUS
Papa Asafa is a community on Lagos Mainland, situated nearby Agege, and close to Dopemu. It is a community largely populated by indigent families and very low income earners.
Papa Asafa is currently facing the challenge of basic social amenities that will sustain and improve the standard of living of residents. With its history of flash flooding, stagnant water, and almost inaccessible roads, many residents are faced with not only vulnerable conditions but also hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity.
GOALS
The outreach at Papa Asafa is focused primarily on the indigent and vulnerable families within the community.
The main goal is to raise hope, lend a helping hand, offer support and bring smiles to the residents in the community.
Vulnerable groups within the community will receive food relief and the nutritional support that they truly deserve.
OBJECTIVES
· To make food donations and offer nutrition education to residents within the
community.
· To provide personal care items for women and children to help improve the standard of
living and support better nutrition.
· To offer succor, hope, and increase awareness in the area of food security, the standard
of living, and quality of life.
