Birthdays are moments of reflection, gratitude, and renewal. For Dr. Stephen Akintayo, founder of the Stephen Akintayo Foundation and Gtext Holdings, this year’s milestone on January 26, 2026, became an opportunity to extend that gratitude outward in a profound way. Through a compassionate partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative and The Morayo Show, he brought immediate relief and hope to women and vulnerable households facing food insecurity in Ikeja.

The outreach under the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) delivered food boxes, carefully packed with essential staples and nourishing items, to support families in Ikeja community. The event showcased volunteer dedication, and a shared commitment to turning personal celebration into communal upliftment.

From the start, the atmosphere buzzed with warmth and purpose as volunteers, many stepping up on short notice, worked alongside the team to package and distribute food aid, creating a seamless flow of compassion. Dr. Michael Sunbola, Founder and Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, warmly welcomed the partner and celebrant, acknowledging Dr. Akintayo’s longstanding friendship and consistent support for LFBI’s mission. He praised the volunteer’s selfless energy in making the outreach a success and highlighted how such partnerships amplify efforts to restore dignity and combat hunger across Lagos.

In a touching address to attendees of the outreach, Dr. Stephen Akintayo reflected on his journey of faith, perseverance, and the deep fulfillment found in serving others. He described the day as a fitting way to honor 40 years of God’s faithfulness, by prioritizing impact over extravagance and encouraging everyone present to embrace service as a lifelong calling.

Beneficiaries, including many widows who received targeted support, left with full hearts, renewed hope, and expressions of deep appreciation. Participants shared how the timely assistance arrived at a critical moment, reinforcing that no act of generosity is too small when it meets real need.

This outreach exemplifies how the Lagos Food Bank Initiative continues to lead in addressing food insecurity and malnutrition through programs like TEFAP. By providing immediate relief to low-income and vulnerable groups in underserved areas, TEFAP strengthens community bonds, promotes resilience, and ensures families can face tomorrow with improved food security and dignity.

Dr. Akintayo’s choice to celebrate his 40th birthday this way stands as an inspiring example: true legacy is measured not in years lived, but in lives touched through purposeful giving.
