On November 28th, 2025, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), in partnership with Tonic Technologies (Cardtonic), hosted a special outreach under the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) to commemorate International Men’s Day. The event which took place at the Lagos Food Bank Warehouse in Ikeja recognized the resilience, strength, and quiet sacrifices of men within their families and communities.
A standout aspect of the outreach was its strong commitment to inclusion. Many of the beneficiaries were visually impaired men, reflecting LFBI’s dedication to ensuring that people living with disabilities receive equal access to essential support. The atmosphere was filled with warmth as beneficiaries received well-packaged food items designed to ease their household needs.
One of the most heartfelt moments of the day was watching the LFBI volunteers demonstrate empathy and compassion as they lifted food packages, helped beneficiaries carry their boxes, and gently guided visually impaired men to their seats. Their calm support and respectful approach became the true heartbeat of the event, creating an environment rich with dignity and warmth.
A side session courtesy of LFBI’s Cloth Banking Program also added a special touch. Volunteers carefully selected clean, decent, and well-fitting clothing for each beneficiary, taking their time to choose items that matched individual sizes and needs. This thoughtful act went beyond providing material support; it restored confidence and reinforced a sense of belonging.
The beneficiaries expressed sincere appreciation, offering kind words and prayers for Tonic Technologies for supporting the outreach. Among them was Mr. Alowonle, who shared a touching remark: “I started feeling the kindness right from the entrance. An LFBI staff took my hand gently and guided me to where others were seated. That moment alone told me that today was special.” His words captured the spirit of the day.
Together, LFBI and Cardtonic showed how compassion and partnership can uplift people, promote inclusion, and create lasting community impact.
