On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) welcomed the OED Foundation, the philanthropic arm of IT Horizons, for the second outreach of its World Food Day 2026 series. The partnership combined a facility tour at the Food Bank warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, with a Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) distribution to vulnerable families in Iwaya Community.

Founded by technology entrepreneur Olusegun Enitan Dada (OED), the OED Foundation focuses on food security, education, and youth empowerment. Its decision to mark World Food Day by supporting families experiencing food insecurity reflects a practical commitment to improving access to essential resources in underserved communities.

The day began at the LFBI warehouse, where the OED Foundation team toured the facility and gained insight into the Food Bank’s operations, including the preparation of food supplies and mobilizing resources for distribution. Afterwards, the team and volunteers moved to Iwaya Community, where food boxes were distributed to resilient households.

Michael Morakinyo, Programs Lead at OED Foundation, addressed the volunteers and team during the outreach. He highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, reflecting on previous outreaches in Oshodi and Agbowa. He emphasised that the partnership with the Lagos Food Bank aligns with the Foundation’s core pillars, particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and reaffirmed their dedication to leveraging strategic partnerships to bring lasting relief to underserved families.

The second World Food Day outreach reflects Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s continued commitment to fighting hunger and malnutrition through programs like TEFAP. For beneficiaries in Iwaya, the food boxes provided practical relief and reassurance during challenging times.
