A child feeling loved and remembered after receiving a warm, nutritious meal says more than words ever could.

On Wednesday, 29 July, 2026, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI) partnered once again with The Elevation Church through the Education Enhancement Intervention for Food Insecure Students (EDUFOOD) program as part of the project for their Love Week 2026. United by a shared vision of ensuring that children in underserved slum communities feel loved and are happy, the partnership brought nutritious school meals to pupils in a low-cost private school in the Makoko community of Yaba, Lagos, creating a moment in time where children could learn, grow, and thrive.

As a recurring partner of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, The Elevation Church continues to demonstrate its commitment to sharing and spreading love to vulnerable widows and this year included a thousand children as the target of the second phase of their partnership. 

The outreach was marked by smiles, excitement, and eager anticipation as nutritious meals were served to the children. The Elevation Church team and Food Bank volunteers worked seamlessly to ensure every child received a healthy, balanced meal, transforming an ordinary school day into a memorable experience filled with love and happiness. Beyond nourishing young bodies, the outreach reinforced the importance of spreading the love of Jesus Christ to children, triggering the knowledge and confidence that they are seen and thought about. Hence promoting concentration, active participation in class, and pursuit of their dreams. 

Speaking during the outreach, EDUFOOD program Officer, Rhema Jemima Keston  highlighted the purpose of school feeding and gave the floor to Peculiar Ediomo-Abasi to highlight what Love Week meant and the purpose it had been set up to achieve. Peculiar highlighted how the love of Christ makes a difference, and how it was crucial to share this love through a commonly understood way, Feeding. She also expressed how happy they were with the partnership and how it will become a recurring partnership, and hopefully in more phases. 

For many of the children, the meals represented much more than lunch. It provided the nourishment needed to stay attentive in class, the energy to participate in learning, and the reassurance that their wellbeing matters. Each meal served was a meaningful investment in a child’s health, confidence, and future aspirations.

This recurring partnership between The Elevation Church and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative reflects a shared commitment to breaking the cycle of classroom hunger through sustainable collaboration.
