February 13th 2025 was a memorable day for beneficiaries of the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, an intervention that provides staple foods, relief items and decent clothing to vulnerable individuals and families living in low-cost communities.
Taking place at the Lagos Food Bank warehouse in Mangoro, Ikeja, the aim of the outreach was to mark this year’s Valentine season by supporting households in need of basic necessities, to improve their nutritional status and help maintain their health.
In the absence of the partner, Justina George, a programs officer/grant writer of the Food Bank appreciated the partner for yet another collaboration to support underserved communities, and highlighted the importance of fostering resilience and building stronger communities amidst the economic challenges. She also commended the partner for leveraging on the season of love to extend such a heartfelt gesture to those in need.
Speaking to one of the media team of the Food Bank, Mrs. Kemi, a beneficiary of the distribution from Ajegunle community, expressed her deepest appreciation as a first-timer at the Food Bank, saying she had been looking forward to this day since her registration barely 2 months ago. She emphasized on the hardship she faces to afford a good meal for her and her family, adding that the food box and other items received would be helpful in sustaining her family for the coming weeks.
