On Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. The Lagos Food Bank Initiative held a remarkable Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) outreach, one made truly unforgettable through a partnership with Dorcas Shola Fapson, popularly known as Ms DSF, a celebrated disc jockey, actress, and TV presenter. The outreach focused on providing essential food support to vulnerable women, including widows, the elderly, and those living with disabilities, many of whom are affected by food insecurity and undernutrition.
Ms DSF didn’t just show up — she fully immersed herself in the process, engaging personally with volunteers and beneficiaries and creating moments of joy and connection. Beyond distributing food packages, she used her craft to set a lively tone for the day. Her music turned the outreach into a celebration, sparking dancing, smiles, and warm interactions throughout.
The food packages distributed, containing staple and nutritious items, were handed out by Ms DSF herself. Knowing that the food items could sustain their families for about 2 to 4 weeks, the joy on the faces of the beneficiaries was profound. It was more than a meal; it was a moment of connection and hope.
Ms DSF shared a powerful message: “If you can give, do so. If you can’t, then volunteer your time — so that people who can’t help themselves can get the help they need. And don’t stop there, encourage your family and friends to give back to the community.”
To show appreciation to the dedicated volunteers, Ms DSF generously provided transport tokens to support their journey back home; a gesture that was also extended to the beneficiaries. This thoughtful act added another layer of excitement to the outreach.
This outreach exemplifies how compassionate partnerships and creative energy can bring about meaningful change. As Lagos Food Bank continues to fight hunger and undernutrition in Nigeria, collaborations like this remind us that giving can be joyful, dignified, and deeply impactful.
