On the 9th and 10th of February 2024, Microsoft partnered with Lagos Food Bank Initiative to provide nutritious food and non-food items to two separate communities, as an act of kindness during the season of love, through the Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
The outreaches which took place at the food bank warehouse and in Ebute Metta community respectively witnessed a good number of beneficiaries supported with supplies capable of lasting a family of 5 members for 3 to 4 weeks.
In active participation of activities during both outreaches were representatives of the partner organization who ensured that smiles were left on the faces of the beneficiaries as they received their packages. Addressing those present in Ebute Metta community, the Head of Marketing and Communications in Microsoft, Yemi Orimolade, expressed his gratitude to the food bank team for yet another successful partnership, and to the volunteers for their dedication to social impact, highlighting on the fact that though this was a second collaboration between both organizations, more collaborations in the near future would take place, given the dire need to sustain families living in low income communities.
Also addressing attendees of the outreach at the food bank warehouse, the Founder/Executive Director of the food bank, Dr. Michael Sunbola, appreciated the partners of the day for their act of kindness towards the vulnerable populace in vulnerable communities and encouraged the act of giving especially during this season of love, citing the high cost of living as a core reason to support those living below the poverty line.
The outreach was a remarkable success, directly impacting the lives of beneficiaries, many of whom complained of the constant increase in food prices contributing majorly to the hardship faced. They appreciated the food bank and partner organization greatly as they received their food boxes through an act of kindness.
